The battle against errors, Newcore-RC1
dr
Big bout of commits recently to address a lot of usability quirks in Newcore,
bringing it ever closer to a RC1 release, targeting usability quirks and ironing
out the user experience in general:
- Show what network is selected in the client list window
- Fix prefs dirtying logic so multiple widgets can pick up the changes
- Fix client sorting in main window
- Fix main window to keep the same network selected when the sort updates or the sort order changes
- Raise source warnings as pop-up alerts
- Raise completely failed initial source as pop-up alerts; this will catch sources which can't auto-detect the drivers and directs users to the README
- Fix shutdown code to happen more quickly while still catching all the pending data
- Catch kismet_server crashing inside the UI and raise an alert
- Don't raise the 'Start a local server' when the connection to the preferred auto-connect server worked
- Fix 'All sources broken' pop-up to only show up after 20 seconds of error state, allow disabling it, allow it to occur more than once if the sources continue to break
- Add prompting for default colors for terminals which don't represent dark grey properly
All these mean that the final real roadblocks for releasing Newcore as 2009-05-RC1 are implementing the remaining sound hooks, implementing speech, and implementing a method to turn back on "don't show me again" warnings.
