Could be your wireless card isn't reliably reporting packets; there isn't really anything in kismet that makes it, or makes it not, see clients - if it gets a data packet from a client, it shows up.
You could try looking at the logs with wireshark and see if things are obviously missing; maybe you're only getting a fragment of the packets.
It's not impossible that there's a bug in Kismet but in general if it sees ANYTHING it means the decoders are working OK.
