Subject:Sorry I'm sort of a noob...need some help.

The lucent is ancient and has had a history of not being very well supported by drivers. I believe the current drivers do not support monitor mode with most card firmwares.

You'd probably be better served by getting a cheap, modern card - the USB Alfa is well liked.
