Define frozen. Not responding at all? Not reporting packets? Completely freezing is either

a) a kismet bug (which I haven't heard others reporting, so while possible, I'm not leaning towards it)
or b) a driver bug, causing part of the network stack to drop dead (much more severe, but also, wifi drivers have a lot of bugs).

Stopping reporting packets after a few minutes is either

a) Driver bugs. Madwifi is a major violator here, but I've seen it in others. Try the latest kernel or the compat-wireless backports

b) Something else shutting down the NIC. Shut off networkmanager, dhcp, etc on the network interface before running Kismet. The multivap stuff is a fair bit more resilient than the old model, but if networkmanager shuts down the interface mid-capture it's going to hose things. Kismet should be issuing alerts for suspect processes running on the same interface.
