Subject:Kismet 2010-07-R1 compilation problems in Ubuntu 10.10
Date:01:39:50 29/11/2010

> Hello. I am trying to compile Kismet 2010-07-R1 under Ubuntu 10.10. I already haunted which dependencies I needed to install, which include: build-essential libncurses5 libncurses5-dev libpcap0.8 libpcap0.8-dev but I am getting 2 strange warnings while I do ./configure:
> configure: WARNING: Using local radiotap headers
> config.status: WARNING: '' seems to ignore the --datarootdir setting

User "knudfl" at gave me the solution:

./configure ends with this text :
Configuration complete. Run 'make dep' to generate dependencies
and 'make' followed by 'make install' to compile and install.

make[2]: `.depend' is up to date. [/QUOTE]But it doesn't really matter, when "depend" is created.
In Kismet, make will do it, when you omitted 'make dep'.

'checkinstall' will not work with all software.
To be expected by say every 50 application.
With Kismet, it is easy worked around :
Just do : 'sudo make install' .. and next : 'sudo checkinstall'

Posting here just in case someone searches for it.
