Subject:Kismet not seeing GPS
Date:04:03:46 25/11/2010

Hey all, I'm new to Linux and I seem to be stuck,

I've been trying to set up kismet with my GPS but when I start kismet and press "f" it brings up a screen saying:
"Network Location"
"No GPS data"

I have gpsd but I'm not sure if its configured right. When I use "telnet localhost 2947" it gives:
Trying ::1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
{"class":"VERSION","release":"2.92","rev":"svn","proto_major":3,"proto_minor":1}

but it doesn't say anything else. The Kismet documentation says that you can bypass gpsd so I tried that changing my kismet.conf from
gps=true
gpstype=gpsd
gpshost=localhost:2947
gpsmodelock=false
gpsreconnect=true

to

gps=true
gpstype=serial
gpsdevice=/dev/ttyUSB0
gpsreconnect=true

but then kismet wont start and gives the error:
Invalid GPS host in config (host:port required)
Done.

I'm running
Ubuntu 10.04
Kismet 2008-05-R1-4.1
gpsd 2.92-4
my gps is a BU-353 (PL-2303 driver)
