Subject:Help needed Kismet AirPcap Windows XP
Date:00:07:44 30/06/2010

I'm trying to install Kismet on an XP SP3 box using an AirPcap adapter. The hardware works and I can capture packets with Wireshark.

I downloaded Kismet 2009-06-R1 from Cace and ran the installer. It identifies itself as Kismet 2008-05-R1.

The more significant problem is that the client won't start. Here is the terminal output:

[Starting the Kismet client]
Error opening terminal: cygwin.

The Windows error message is "The kismet client couldn't start, please check your kismet.conf."

The only thing I have changed in kismet.conf is to set gps=false.

The error messages are confusing since they all seem to relate to missing Linux folders. A quick check with a Cygwin terminal session shows that the folders do not exist.

Help, please!
