But just menu symbols '`' and '~' require me to press 3 or 2 keystrokes, respectively, in my keyboard layout.

I agree magic keys was not user friendly unless you used kismet a lot, but multiplying by 4 the keystrokers required for repetitive simple actions is not expert-user-friendly either.
