> But doesn't close. I still don't have a prompt. When I open a new terminal and do a "sudo killall kismet" it appears to work but doesn't. Same for killing the PID. Any thoughts? Would like to get this fixed soon.

This almost always means there is a significant bug in your drivers which locks up under certain conditions (probably configuring monitor mode or changing channel).

Try upgrading your kernel/drivers or, if there are multiple driver options for your NIC, trying one of the others.
