Yes, I'm positive it is a driver issue. I'm running with Atheros cards, using the later drivers. Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10 seem to be a little flaky, at least with my D-Link cards. Currently the D-Link's are now running under Fedora Core 9. I've just started playing with a Netgear card, hopefully it'll be more stable than the D-Links.
