I am reasonably new to Linux. I have the ipw3945 working to load Kismet, but now Kismet tells me that it cannot make configdir at home/name/.kismet.

bash-3.1# kismet
Launching kismet_server: /usr/local/bin/kismet_server
Will drop privs to **** (1000) gid 100
No specific sources given to be enabled, all will be enabled.
Non-RFMon VAPs will be destroyed on multi-vap interfaces (ie, madwifi-ng)
Enabling channel hopping.
Enabling channel splitting.
Source 0 (addme): Enabling monitor mode for ipw3945 source interface eth0 channel 6...
Source 0 (addme): Opening ipw3945 source interface eth0...
Spawned channel control process 3500
Dropped privs to **** (1000) gid 100
Will attempt to put networkmanager to sleep...
Allowing clients to fetch WEP keys.
configdir '/home/****/.kismet/' does not exist, making it.
FATAL: Could not make configdir: No such file or directory
Sending termination request to channel control child 3500...
Waiting for channel control child 3500 to exit...
WARNING: Sometimes cards don't always come out of monitor mode
cleanly. If your card is not fully working, you may need to
restart or reconfigure it for normal operation.
Trying to wake networkmanager back up...
Kismet exiting.

Please help my understand what is going wrong.
