Subject:problems getting kismet started with aironet
Date:22:20:58 20/10/2006

hi there,

i get hard problems when trying to start kismet with my minipci aironet wireless card. lspci tells me about the following card:

"01:02.0 Network controller: AIRONET Wireless Communications Cisco Aironet Wireless 802.11b"

i compiled the 1.6.18 kernel with the aironet pci modul and i think that it's the right one. i installed kismet und changed the config values to:

"source=cisco,eth1,addme"

this is the right interface.
when i try to start kismet i get:

-----------
[root@x]# kismet
Server options: none
Client options: none
Starting server...
Waiting for server to start before starting UI...
Will drop privs to micele (1000) gid 100
No specific sources given to be enabled, all will be enabled.
Enabling channel hopping.
Enabling channel splitting.
Source 0 (addme): Enabling monitor mode for cisco source interface eth1 channel 6...
Source 0 (addme): Opening cisco source interface eth1...
FATAL: pcap reported netlink type 1 (EN10MB) for eth1. This probably means you're not in RFMON mode or your drivers are reporting a bad value. Make sure you have the correct drivers and that entering monitor mode succeeded.
------------

also setting the managed mode before starting doen't work
any solutions?

thank you all
