I am using MadWifi-NG on Fedora Core 4. Here is the details of my setup:
Kernel: kernel-smp-2.6.17-1.2142_FC4
MadWifi drivers from ATrpms:
Kismet: kismet-0.0.2006.04.R1-2.fc4
The wireless card I am using is a D-Link DWL-AG530
The source is defined in /etc/kismet/kismet.conf as:

I can start and use kismet. But if I stop and start 2 or 3 times, I will eventually get the following error message on startup:

Source 0 (Atheros): Enabling monitor mode for madwifi_ag source interface wifi0 channel 6...
WARNING: wifi0 appears to not accept the Madwifi-NG controls. Will attempt to configure it as a standard Madwifi-old interface. If you are using madwifi-ng, be sure to set the source interface to the wifiX control interface, NOT athX
FATAL: channel get ioctl failed 22:Invalid argument

I also noticed that if I perform a "iwconfig ath0 channel 6" after running kismet, it has no effect on the interface although changing to any other channel does work.
