I've been trying to get kismet up and running on my IBM T41 w/ built-in AR5212 wireless (a/b/g). I am running on Fedora Core 5 (FC5). When I start kismet, I recieve the following message:

Starting server...
Waiting for server to start before starting UI...
Will drop privs to XXXXXXXXX (XXX) gid XXX
No specific sources given to be enabled, all will be enabled.
Enabling channel hopping.
Enabling channel splitting.
Source 0 (internalWiFi): Enabling monitor mode for madwifi_g source interface ath0 channel 6...
WARNING: ath0 appears to not accept the Madwifi-NG controls. Will attempt to configure it as a standard Madwifi-old interface. If you are using madwifi-ng, be sure to set the source interface to the wifiX control interface, NOT athX
FATAL: 'get_mode' does not return integer parameters.

I understood from reading posts here and elsewhere that the madwifi-ng drivers are not stable, and as such I have been using the 'old' set. These drivers work fine for me to perform other network functions (in fact I am posting this message via this adapter)...

Let me apologize in advance if I have missed something simple in the forums or documentation...

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or pointers..
