Hello,

I have exactly the same problem on my gentoo box; unfortunately the above command did not work for me.

my passwd file is as follows :

#ls -al /etc/passwd
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1939 Apr 19 12:04 passwd

this the line getpwuid() should look for (as configured in kismet.conf on the line suiduser=kek'):

#cat passwd | grep kek
kek:x:1000:100::/home/kek:/bin/bash

These are the permissions on my home directory:

# ls -al
total 12
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Jan 30 19:52 .
d-wxr--r-t 19 root root 4096 Apr 30 14:51 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jul 30 2005 .keep
drwxr-xr-x 56 kek users 4096 Apr 30 15:35 kek

On the 'unstable' Gentoo ebuild for Kismet (kismet-2006.04.1), the exact error is :

ERROR: Could not explode home directory path, getpwuid() failed: Permission denied.

Thank you in advance,
