Subject:Getting kismet and gpsd to work with a usb GPS

> We recently purchased a GPS to use with wardriving here, and ended up with a usb one instead of a serial. We use a distro of knoppix with kismet to wardrive, and I cannot for the life of me get the gps daemon to listen in on the usb GPS. The default listen port for kismet is the ttyS0, the serial port, and I cannot figure out what to set it to in order to get it to listen to the USB. Thanks!

I can confirm some of the other inforation mentioned. I'm running Suse10, using a serial-usb converter with a pl2303 chipset (which seems to be the most common).

lsmod shows me the following:
pl2303 21764 0
usbserial 36180 1 pl2303
usbcore 140596 9 pl2303,usbserial,usbhid,usb_storage,ehci_hcd,ohci_hcd

And grepping through logs I see this in /var/log/messages:

Feb 17 11:05:04 sheridan kernel: drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support registered for Generic
Feb 17 11:05:04 sheridan kernel: usbcore: registered new driver usbserial_generic
Feb 17 11:05:04 sheridan kernel: drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial Driver core v2.0
Feb 17 11:05:04 sheridan kernel: drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support registered for PL-2303
Feb 17 11:05:04 sheridan kernel: pl2303 1-5:1.0: PL-2303 converter detected
Feb 17 11:05:04 sheridan kernel: usb 1-5: PL-2303 converter now attached to ttyUSB0
Feb 17 11:05:04 sheridan kernel: usbcore: registered new driver pl2303
Feb 17 11:05:04 sheridan kernel: drivers/usb/serial/pl2303.c: Prolific PL2303 USB to serial adaptor driver v0.12

I've tested this config a few times, and it works great, though I think I'm running the latest stable release or whatever.

Apologies if all the data annoys anyone.

Cheers,
Byron
