|Subject:||Kismet shows very high GPS speed values but GPS is stationary|
> I've noticed that the GPS speed readout within Kismet shows very high numbers (usually a value between 600 to 1,200) although the GPS is stationary and the coordinates aren't changing. I'm not sure if this is a bug or something to do with my setup. My environment follows:
> Raspberry Pi 3
> Raspbian Jessie (released 2 March 2017)
> Kismet, version 2016-07-R1
> Ublox Vk-172 USB GPS
> Adafruit Ultimate GPS via Serial to USB adapter
The GPS parser is pretty simple; are you using gpsd or kismet's serial driver? The speed just comes straight from the GPS.
if gpsd, take a look at a raw dump (I don't use gpsd anymore but I'm sure there's a way to get it), if serial, take a look at the NMEA w/ tmux or minicom or something, and see what's getting reported.
