Subject:Help with Kismet configuration file needed
Date:02:53:30 02/10/2011

I already have Kismet installed on one computer. I did not to this myself, so I am not quite sure how the information was gathered, but Kismet works.
This is a Toshiba Satellite A215. This one is using Ubuntu as an OS.

The command lspci gives me the folowing info:
Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E
...PCI Express Fast Ethernet Controller (rev 01)
Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5001 Wireless Network ...Adapter (rev 01)

Kismet config file reads as follows:
suiduser=jack
#source= sourcetype,interface,name[,initialchannel]
source=ath5k,wlan0,addmee
THIS WORKS

My new computer is a Toshiba Satellite M645 With BackTrack installed as OS.
The command lspci gives me the folowing onfo:
Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconducter Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 05)
Network controller: Intel Corporation WiMAX/Wifi Link 6050 Series (rev 5f)

Kismet.conf file reads as follows:
ncsource=wlan0:name=Intel

nscource,=wlan0:r8101=intel
I AM NOT SURE THIS WORKS, but it does scan networks

I use:
ncsource: because it says, and I guess ncsource stands for New Core?
wlan0:because that's what the command iwconfig gives me, wlan0
r8101: Because RTL8102E is see has removed thr TL in RTL.
Intel: because I kave no clue.

What is the corect way to do this? What am I looking for?

Any answers or hints are more than welcome. I have helped plenty of people on other forums, but not concerning programs like this. It would be nice to get some help back once in a while.
