I would personally avoid linksys along with netgear and trendnet. All three of them are known to be problematic with versioning of their cards. What I mean by that is if you read on the internet people say its supported, you buy it and you try it out... its not supported. No matter where you look people say its supported until you see something like v1 or v2. Not all manufacturers will tell you what chipset are they equipped with because an average joe wouldn't care less as he needs to run it on his windows box.

However, the difference with versioning on other platforms can be massive and sometimes causes headaches to the new owners. A v1 for example may have Atheros chipset which is mostly supported but then a v2 for example is equipped with Marvell chipset which has hardly any support.

Netgear is probably the worst with their versioning as they mix and match models with different chips thus hard to identify which one has the correct chipset for sniffing, etc.

Linksys and Trendnet have versions on the actual equipment, which means one needs to open the package to see which version it has and to double check if its supported.

I cannot recommend much of N as it is still in pre stages according to IEEE and there are not too many support out there for N just yet.
